Miles Davis (1926-1991) was jazztrompettist en -componist. Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de belangrijkste en invloedrijkste jazzmuzikanten van de twintigste eeuw en was de belichaming van coolheid. Deze documentaire schetst een beeld van de muzikant en stipt zijdelings de man achter de muziek aan.
